What is Re:Fresh?

Re:Fresh is a schools based project that provides toiletry and sanitary items to children and youth in need. It was established in 2015 in response to a growing awareness that many students were facing complex circumstances and challenges which meant they were not fully supported in areas of personal hygiene and self care. We discovered that by providing a simple bag of toiletries young people were empowered to take control and care for themselves. We currently partner with several schools in the Wiltshire and Somerset area. In the first year of this project 250 bags were given to students across the local areas.

Toiletry bags are discretely accessed by students normally through pastoral staff working in a school or college.

We provide wash bags filled with the following items:

Shampoo
Shower gel
Soap
A flannel
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Sanitary Towels
Brush or Comb
A specifically designed leaflet on self care and links to other support agencies

Each bag costs approximately £10.00

Re:Fresh could not function without the help and support of local people. In each of the towns we currently serve there are individuals, businesses, churches, religious groups and charities that have sought to understand the needs of their community and respond in kind by offering their help. We want to thank you!

Our vision is to build a reliable service to our local schools and colleges and this takes support from our wider community. We want to continue to empower those working for our children and youth by helping them respond to the daily needs of the young people they meet. Some of our children and youth may only need short term support others will need ongoing help throughout their school years. Please help us achieve this!

Jill is our Re:Fresh project co-ordinator and is responsible for the Trowbridge, Westbury, Devizes, Melksham & Bradford on Avon areas. The project also has Lesley Hooper as an area co-ordinator working for your local community in Frome. There are a number of additional volunteers that give their time to help facilitate Re:Fresh in each of these locations and we are grateful for the time and support they offer.

If you would like to discuss this project further or you require any additional information please feel free to contact us.
